January 2014 Events
There are always some exciting events to start the New Year in Charleston. Start the year by watching the Flip Flop Drop at Folly Beach at midnight on Dec 31. Of course, you can stay around for the Folly Beach Polar Plunge the next day. This year, you are asked to come dressed as your favorite Bill Murray character in honor of one our most famous local celebs. The inaugural Medal of Honor Bowl will be at Johnson Hagood Stadium on Jan 11. Restaurant Week, always a favorite, is back from Jan 8-21. Charleston restaurants are some of the best in the world. We have James Beard award winners all over town. The fourth annual Charleston Marathon is on Jan 18. The 34th Annual Charleston Boat Show will be tempting you at the N Charleston Convention Center on the 24th-26th. The world’s largest oyster festival will be at Boone Hall on Jan 26. Barry Manilow, Johnny Mathias, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, and the Tedeschi Trucks Band will be at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center during the month. Don William, Shovels and Rope, and the Carolina Chocolate Drops will perform at the Charleston Music Hall downtown.
